4x13 antique persian camel hair serab runner rug #4539

This is a 1920s Persian Camel Hair Serab and it is stellar. 4’3 x 12’5 of some of the most luxurious, floppy, sheeny wool you will ever put your hands on. Camel hair Serabs are special and this one has the lanolin oils trapped in the fibers of the wool. It GLOWS. And you have this incredible handle… soft, heavy, luxurious. You can feel the quality the second you touch it. And that sheen. Depending on where you’re standing and which way you’re looking at the nap, this rug reads warmer or cooler, lighter or darker. It literally changes with you as you move. The design showcases several poled medallions with two-tone diamond motif art in a small scale across the camel field. The floral chain border is pretty and here’s the part I love most, the female weaver wove herself into the border. Her mark is in there. A woman in Northwest Persia a hundred years ago saying I made this. That detail alone makes this rug extraordinary. This beauty has color ways that are simple and warm: camel, warm earth, espresso brown, touches of peach, which sounds understated until you see it in person and realize how much depth there is. Vegetable dyed wool on a wool foundation. Low pile, excellent condition. This rug has been incredibly well cared for.
