Wart Fern

Wart Fern, botanically known as Microsorum scolopendrium, also known as the Kangaroo Fern or Monarch Fern, is a fascinating tropical fern admired for its glossy, leathery dark green fronds and unusual reproductive structures. The deeply lobed fronds emerge from black scaled creeping rhizomes that spread across the soil surface or cling to trees as epiphytes in nature. Its most distinctive feature is the presence of raised circular bumps, or “warts,” on the upper surface of mature fertile fronds. These structures contain clusters of sporangia on the underside, giving the plant its unique common name.
