Domain Marquis d'Angerville Bourgogne Passetoutgrain 2022
TASTING NOTE: "The 2022 Bourgogne Passetoutgrain has developed a very Pinot-driven nose despite there being 50% Gamay in the blend. Fine transparency. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins and crisp red fruit, nicely proportioned with just a little leafiness on the finish. Easy to swallow. (Drink between 2024-2028)." Neal Martin, Vinous ABOUT THE WINE: Passetoutgrain is a blend of two grape varieties: Gamay and Pinot Noir. From a plot located in the eastern part of the commune of Volnay, which is not on a hillside. The soils there are quite deep, clayey, and have a low limestone content. Domaine Marquis d'Angerville had ceased production of Bourgogne Passetoutgrain for a few years, but is now once again cultivating approximately 30 acres of Bourgogne Passetoutgrain in the lieu-dit Monpoulain. ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Based in Volnay, Domaine Marquis d'Angerville is one of Burgundy's most historic estates and has been owned by the d'Angerville family for over 200 years. Guillaume d'Angerville, the sixth generation, now runs the estate, assisted by the talented François Duvivier, who joined him in 2005. Together, they converted the estate to biodynamic farming in 2009, creating graceful, balanced wines with what Guillaume describes as ‘spherical freshness’. The jewel in the crown is the fabulous Clos des Ducs vineyard. In 2024, Guillaume's daughter Margaux joined the estate alongside her father.
