The exterior is decorated with bold black painted geometric motifs arranged in intersecting linear and triangular patterns that encircle the vessel. These dynamic designs are characteristic of the painted pottery traditions associated with the Majiayao cultural sphere, where abstract geometric decoration played an important symbolic and aesthetic role.
