Atomized Autumnal Thermodust shifts through a soft range of cool and earthy tones as it warms up, moving from a cool green, to a soft pastel green, warm beige, pastel yellow, then finally a brighter yellow. The transition begins around 20°C and continues gradually through the high 20s and 30s, with the brightest yellow tones appearing above 42°C. Mixes easily into paints, polishes, gels, resins, glues and other compatible mediums. Trigger it with body heat, warm surfaces, sunlight, or shifts in the surrounding environment. The effect is reversible, repeatable, and ideal for making surfaces that feel reactive, engineered, and alive. Mix with nail polish to create a fascinating effect: cooler areas can sit in softer blue-green tones, while warmer parts shift toward cream and yellow. On the nail, this can create a natural heat-map effect, with colour differences appearing depending on temperature, airflow, and contact with warm or cool surfaces. Please be aware that this product has a shelf-life of around 2 years in a room temperature environment. It will bleach in the sun over a couple of weeks, and will lose its effectiveness if kept noticeably above its change temperature, so isn’t recommended for painting permanent things like cars, houses, or anything that will sit in the sun, nor anything that gets very hot, like radiators, engines etc. Store away from direct sunlight. The science of thermochromic pigment: Thermochromic pigments use tiny heat-sensitive microcapsules that alter their optical properties as temperature changes. When cool, the pigment appears in cooler tones. As heat increases, the internal capsule system changes state, altering the way light is absorbed and reflected, causing the visible colour to shift through a sequence of autumnal shades.
