By exploring Herbal Energetics and elemental theory, you’ll begin to understand how the constitution of the body and the energetics of plants communicate with one another to reveal what is needed for balance and healing. If you’ve been called to work with plants in a way that is intuitive, grounded, informed, and magical, this course offers a powerful place to begin. This 7-part experiential series is designed to provide practical tools, embodied experiences, and lasting insight that will continue to support and nourish you long after the course has ended. Energetic systems of healing have been practiced for thousands of years in traditions from India, China, Tibet, and Indigenous cultures throughout the Americas. Herbal energetics helps us understand how plants move through the body, mind, and senses, influencing organs, systems, and tissue states. Over the course of these four classes, we will explore the six tastes, twenty attributes, five elements, and six tissue states through direct sensory experience though tasting herbs, noticing how the elements manifest in tissue states and personality traits. Sept. 12, Saturday 11-2 - Sweet, Salty & Astringent Tastes + Their Attributes Sept. 13, Sunday 12-3 - Bitter, Pungent, Acrid & Sour Tastes + Their Attributes Sept. 19, Saturday 11-2 - Intro to Elemental Theory/The 5 elements Sept. 20, Sunday 12-3 - Tissue States Intro to Plant Journeying Sept. 26, Saturday 11-2 The story, medicine, and spirit of a plant are always available to us in many forms. In this experiential class, we will work deeply with a single plant ally and explore practices for connecting with plant spirit and consciousness. Through meditation, embodied awareness, and the ingestion of a small amount of tincture, tea, or flower essence, participants will experience a guided plant journey designed to deepen intuitive connection. A plant attunement practice will further support this relationship. Time will also be provided for integration through journaling, reflection, and group sharing. Tools of the Shamanic Herbalist Sept. 27, Sunday 9-12 This class explores some of the foundational tools and principles of Shamanic Herbalism. Together, we will discuss the importance of offerings, ethics, wildcrafting, relationship with the land, choosing an herbal ally, and cultivating personal and social responsibility.
