Cordier sculp.” Description: Very detailed map of the Kingdom of Poland covering the western and central territories and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania spanning across the eastern territories. The map is detailed with numerous heraldic coats of arms for the regional lands and traces the specific military marching routes taken by the army of Swedish King Charles X Gustav during the mid-17th-century invasion known as “The Deluge”. The decorative cartouche is complemented by a battle scene – a clash between Polish and Swedish cavalry. Comes from the Samuel Pufendorf book “De Rebus a Carolo Gustavo Sveciæ Rege Gestis commentariorum libri septem. Elegantissimis Tabulis æneis exornati cum triplici Indice”, published by Christophorus Riegel Literis Knorzianis in Nürnberg, 1696.
