GEORGE KILBURNE: a very fine quality and beautifully executed WATERCOLOUR of a “Georgian period” interior scene so typical of this highly regarded artist. The scene is a private ball full of elegantly dressed guests, held in a fine Georgian house, with a young lady seated on a Chippendale settee. She has been approached by an equally well-dressed gentleman, perhaps being asked for a dance? We shall never know the outcome… Beautifully painted with great attention to detail, and a fine watercolour. 56 x 49cms including the good ornate gilded frame. Signed lower right corner; circa 1880-1910. * GEORGE GOODWIN KILBURNE was a prominent artist and illustrator renowned for his detailed accurate depiction of upperclass Georgian and Victorian life.
