Special Edition Container 01

The highly textured surface of this one-of-a-kind container is created with a combination of spraying, sponging, and brushing on three different glazes: Frost, Green Agate, and Grove Gloss. Our master glazer Winnie Crittenden glazed the piece and it's paired with a hand-carved wood top by Hideki Takayama. Winnie worked side-by-side with Edith Heath (her aunt) and learned everything about glazing. Her decades of knowledge and experience are on display with these spectacular and—at times—dramatic glazes. Hideki Takayama is a self-taught sculptor whose work ranges from the functional to the sensual. He lives and works out of his home workshop in Mashiko, Japan—a rural, mountainous region outside of Tokyo famous for its local ceramics community.
