The Fifth Gospel: The Glory of Christ in the Book of Isaiah

With Seraphim Hamilton Isaiah is often called the “Fifth Gospel,” yet its imagery can feel overwhelming. If it truly reveals Christ, then He must be present throughout the whole book, not only in the Suffering Servant. This course equips students to read Isaiah holistically within Israel’s story as God’s preparation for His Son. Rather than isolated prooftexts, students will encounter Christ through biblical symbolism: temple, land, seed, fire, and water. By the end, they will be able to recognize Christ in Isaiah, the whole Bible, and the Divine Liturgy.
