Inkle Loom Weaving Basics

Learn to weave bands, ribbons, belts, guitar straps, and even shoe laces on the simple, versatile, and portable Inkle loom. For some it will be the first step into the art of weaving! It can also serve as an experienced weaver's introduction to a less complicated weaving technique. In this introductory class you will learn how to warp the loom, read an Inkle loom weaving pattern, and weave a simple band. An almost infinite number of beautiful patterns can be woven on an Inkleloom. In this class you will learn how to choose warp colors and create your own unique woven bands by using various techniques of warp thread manipulation. Teaching Artist Bridget Flynn is a local (just a few blocks from the shop!) textile artist. She has been selling handwoven textiles at various craft events including the Waldorf School Holiday Bazaar and the Mt. Airy Village Fair. Bridget has always been fascinated with creating with fiber and learned to crochet before she learned to read. Since then she has become a knitter, a spinner, and finally a weaver. She spends many hours a day designing and creating; continuing to be awed by the possibilities revealed by the craft and her fellow crafters. Skills + Materials This is a beginner workshop and no previous experience is needed to participate! orkshop supplies are included in the fee; you will borrow an Inkle loom to work on your weaving project and will have the chance to take home your project at the end of the second class session. Cancellation + Make-up Policy We absolutely understand that things come up and you may need to cancel your registration. You may always transfer your registration to another student (just let us know in advance!). If you need to cancel your registration within one week of the workshop we are happy to offer a 50% store credit refund; cancellations made less than one week in advance will not be refunded. We are unable to offer make-ups or exchanges for missed workshop session(s). Student Discount Students get a one-time 10% student discount that is active at the first workshop session and expires two weeks following the final workshop session. You will receive your discount code at the first first session.
