Brenda's Collection - Wool Melton Suit w/ Indigenous Artwork

From Brenda Laine's private collection, made years ago and kept in storage except to go out occasionally to be featured on display. This fully lined Melton Wool jacket and skirt features appliqué artwork designed by Indigenous artist, Joyce Little. In 2004, Joyce Little, of the Tseshaht Band in Port Alberni, sanctioned her First Nation's artwork for Brenda Laine to use on her garment designs. She provided Brenda with some very simple designs which would suit the cut of her jackets. In a small collection of coats, skirts, vests and jackets, Brenda applied Joyce’s Native circles, stars and ovoids, complemented by abalone shell buttons. This suit, along with other garments from the collection, was featured in a fashion show at the BC Elder’s Conference in Port Alberni in 2006. This suit fits size SMALL - Waist 25", Bust 34-36"
