The nation has been called Tsimshian for centuries, and the translation for the word could be, “In The Rain”. Our rainfall in Tofino averages over 10 feet of rain each year. I love the rain and the taste of fresh clean water. Water is life. I have this saying about weather, “There’s no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing”, also, "Weather is just weather, and it always will be whether you like it or whether you don’t”. When I lived in Tofino I would smile and say to visitors, “Welcome to the Wet Coast”.
