Carcassi: Complete Solo Guitar Works, Vol. 3 [Double Album] [One Microphone Recording] [World Premiere Recordings]
We continue with the first-ever complete recording of the guitar works of Matteo Carcassi (1796–1853). Carcassi Complete Solo Guitar Works, Vol. 3 brings together an exceptional collection of pieces unified by their inspiration from Rossini’s themes. It includes four potpourris based on Rossini opera melodies, which were extremely popular throughout the 19th century, as well as the Brilliant Variations on “Non più mesta”, famously performed by Giulio Regondi for King William and Queen Adelaide in London. The program also features seven additional sets of variations on various themes, along with the complete Op. 14 collection of short pieces, including the well-known “Menuetto” No. 20. In total, this release offers over two hours of World Premiere Recordings of 19th-Century Guitar Music by a composer whose work fully deserves renewed attention and discovery. Agustín Maruri, Guitar
