This is an intentional design feature — those guards are what ensure leak protection — but it's useful to know in advance so you can assess the fit correctly. How to increase absorbency For heavy wetters or overnight use, you can add an extra bamboo or hemp booster (available separately in the Happy Bear range) to increase absorbency without changing the diaper. For bowel movements, use the practical disposable bamboo liners instead: after changing, simply remove and dispose of them. Use & care tips 🧺 Washing: 40-60°C. Fold the Velcro inward before washing to prevent it from catching on other items. ❌ Do not tumble dry — heat damages the elastic and the waterproof polyurethane layer. ❌ Do not use fabric softener — it leaves residue on the fabric that reduces absorbency over time. 🌦️ Drying: hang outdoors, preferably in the sun. Sunlight naturally sanitizes and helps maintain the colors. 💧 Break-in: bamboo diapers reach maximum absorbency after about 10 washes. Rinse 2-3 times before first use.
