It carries communication data between compatible Victron products equipped with VE.Direct ports. A common application is connecting a SmartSolar controller, SmartShunt or Phoenix VE.Direct inverter to a Cerbo GX for centralized monitoring. Will it connect a SmartSolar controller to a Cerbo GX? Yes, provided the SmartSolar controller has a VE.Direct port. Connect one end to the controller and the other to an available VE.Direct port on the Cerbo GX. Some larger SmartSolar models may also have VE.Can connectivity, so check the controller's available ports when planning a larger system. Will it work with a Phoenix inverter? Yes, it works with Phoenix inverters equipped with a VE.Direct port, including compatible Phoenix VE.Direct models. It does not work with Phoenix products that use a different communication interface. Do I need one cable for each device? Yes. Each SmartSolar controller, SmartShunt, Phoenix inverter or other VE.Direct device requires its own communication connection to the Cerbo GX. For example, a system with two SmartSolar controllers and one SmartShunt would normally require three VE.Direct cables. Does Bluetooth replace the VE.Direct cable? No. Bluetooth provides nearby access through the VictronConnect app, while a wired VE.Direct connection allows compatible equipment to communicate continuously with a Cerbo GX and appear within the GX and VRM monitoring system. Will it work with VE.Bus or VE.Can equipment? No. VE.Direct, VE.Bus and VE.Can are different communication interfaces. MultiPlus and Quattro inverter/chargers normally use VE.Bus, while VE.Can equipment uses an RJ45-based CAN connection with the appropriate network termination. Check the port labels on your equipment before ordering. If you are unsure, contact us with the Victron model numbers and we can help identify the required cables. Contact Us Which cable length should I choose? Choose the shortest length that allows a clean route without pulling tightly on the connectors. The 0.3m and 0.9m versions are useful for equipment mounted together on one panel, while the longer options suit larger RV, marine and off-grid installations. Allow enough extra length for routing, bends and future equipment servicing. Can I use a standard network or telephone cable instead? No. VE.Direct uses its own connector and cable configuration. Standard Ethernet, telephone and USB cables are not direct substitutes for this product. Can you special order an out-of-stock length? Yes. If your preferred length is unavailable, contact us and we can confirm pricing and estimated delivery time for a special order. Request a Cable What warranty does this product include? Victron VE.Direct cables are covered by Victron Energy's 5-year limited warranty. Contact Sapphire Energy if you require troubleshooting or warranty assistance.
