Chronomètre Souverain, 38mm, Platinum
A Chronomètre Souverain with platinum 38mm case and silver guilloché dial, one of an estimated 200 produced. Launched in 2005 with a 40mm case, it won the Men's Watch category at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève. 38mm was offered one year later by special order only for Journe's top clients. Its central time display was a deviation from the brand's offset display used previously. Its Calibre 1304 is based on dual mainspring barrels for more even torque and is hewn almost entirely of pink gold. The Chronomètre Souverain has a unique finish compared to everything else in the catalogue, with a base plate soleil graining. Perhaps most telling, though, it was a Chronomètre Souverain that François-Paul chose to gift his mentor, George Daniels, as most exemplary of his work in 2010. This platinum and guilloché combination is the original vision for the watch here with rare classical proportions.
