It was created by Tom Ruegger and the fourth collaboration between Steven Spielberg's production company, Amblin Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation. The characters first appeared in 1993 as a recurring skit on the show Animaniacs. Thanks to its popularity it was later spun off as a series. There were 66 episodes produced.
