Doors: 6:30 PM | Show: 7 PM Vocal Gumbo: A Celebration of the Human Voice! Vocal Gumbo and The Village Trip combine their missions for one spectacular night of music at Drom. Vocal Gumbo celebrates the diverse and gorgeous “village of vocalists” in the regular series they have been producing since 2018. And The Village Trip literally celebrates the Village, with its rich history of arts and activism. The collaborative theme for the night is Musical Activism – Songs of Dissent and Hope and the doyennes of Vocal Gumbo – Janis Siegel (of The Manhattan Transfer) and Lauren Kinhan (of New York Voices) have planned a feast for the aching heart, the activist mind, and the hope for a brighter future. Featuring the evocative and uncompromising talents of Lea DeLaria (TV – Orange is the New Black) – whose opinions and fierce musicality strike with clarity and refreshing honesty – we’ll be entertained and educated in one fell swoop. Also joining us for the evening are Theo Bleckmann, Sofia Rei, Lezlie Harrison, La Tanya Hall, Antoinette Montague, Brianna Thomas, and Tahira Clayton.
