Banana Leaf Tray

Inspired by the banana leaf, reimagined for the modern home. The banana leaf has always been an integral part of South Indian dining traditions: a symbol of warmth, hospitality and meals shared together. I wanted to capture that familiarity, but in a way that felt timeless enough for today’s homes. So instead of recreating a banana leaf exactly as it is, I stripped it back to its simplest form. The natural tears, clean silhouette and subtle engraved veins are all that’s needed to make it instantly recognizable. Crafted in rich mahogany MDF, it carries the warmth of Kerala while embracing a calm, minimal Scandinavian aesthetic. I also wanted it to live beyond the dining table. The hanging hole lets it become part of your kitchen décor when it’s not serving chai, snacks or small bites. It’s a piece that’s designed to be used, displayed and enjoyed every day.
