It is what separates this boot from the patent boots most of the market sells. Glued construction. The maker fixes this upper by sticking rather than stitching. Pull on. There is no zip on either side of the shaft, checked on the maker's own photographs. No elastic panel. The shaft does not stretch. Between two lengths, size up. Not a waterproof boot. Do not machine wash. Dry them away from direct heat and stand them upright.
