Moments That Feel Like Home: Zine-making Workshop by Onigiri & Toast (TGW'26)

What makes a place feel like home? In this warm, reflective workshop by Onigiri & Toast, participants are invited to explore Singapore through the lens of memory, everyday life, and personal storytelling. Drawing inspiration from familiar neighbourhood sights, local food, and shared experiences, this session guides you in transforming small moments into a meaningful handmade zine. Through drawing, collage, and gentle creative prompts, participants will reflect on what “home” means to them - whether that’s a hawker centre memory, a neighbourhood corner, or an everyday interaction that feels uniquely Singaporean. No prior experience in zine-making is required, so come for a cosy and creative handicraft session! 10% of the proceeds from this workshop will go to The Tapestry Project Singapore. WHAT TO EXPECT: Create a handmade zine inspired by Singapore’s everyday life and culture. Explore accessible storytelling through drawing, writing, and collage. Reflect on themes of home, belonging, and personal memory. Use guided prompts to translate ideas into visual and written form. Participants will bring home a completed handmade Singapore-inspired zine and a small hand-drawn National Day-themed token from the workshop facilitator. All stationery, drawing, and zine-making materials will be provided. Zine samples will also be available for browsing. Children aged 5–7 are welcome with an accompanying adult. Each session has a minimum requirement of 4 participants to proceed and a maximum capacity of 8 participants. Once the session is full, any additional sign-ups will be placed on a waiting list and notified if a spot becomes available. Tickets are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled. Qiu Ting is a Singapore-based independent creative who explores everyday stories of comfort, belonging, and imagination through illustrated stationery and paper goods. Drawing from a background in storytelling, education, and community engagement, Qiu Ting designs accessible creative experiences that invite participants to reflect on their lived experiences through drawing, writing, and collage. - This workshop is part of The Good Weekend 2026 - a National Day weekend market created to celebrate the people, ideas, and small businesses shaping a more thoughtful Singapore.
