Reverse features the chariot of Aurora (Apollo the Sun) rising across the sky above a terrestrial globe or clouds, symbolizing the bringing of light to darkness. Obverse: draped bust of Louis XVI facing left, LUDOV XVI REX CHRISTIANISS. Reverse: The chariot of Aurora/Apollo driving across the clouds with the motto UMBRAS PRIMA RESOLVIT, in exergue PROCUREURS AU CHATELET 1766. Approx. 30mm, 9.09g. Attractively toned with lustrous surfaces, very appealing in hand.
