Balanced DAC with preamplifier and headphone amplifier The Eversolo DAC-Z10 is a high-resolution digital-to-analogue converter that combines a dual AKM decoding stage, an analogue R-2R volume control and a headphone amplifier in a single chassis. It works both as a DAC within an existing system and as a digital preamplifier driving a power amplifier or active speakers directly. Support for DSD512 and PCM up to 768 kHz/32-bit covers every current high-resolution file and streaming format. Isolated architecture and dual AKM decoding modules The DAC-Z10 is built on the Eversolo FIA architecture, which separates the digital and analogue domains to limit internal interference. Three custom, fully isolated linear power supplies feed the left channel, the right channel and the system circuitry respectively. Decoding is doubled up as well: each channel has its own AK4191 + AK4499 set (AKM Velvet Sound technology), so the left and right signals stay separate from input through to conversion. This arrangement removes crosstalk between channels and translates into THD+N of 0.00008% and a dynamic range of 130 dB. Precision Core clock and external synchronisation The Eversolo Precision Core clock system combines an oven-controlled OCXO crystal oscillator, a phase-locked loop (PLL) and FPGA-based clock reconstruction. Temperature regulation of the OCXO neutralises environmental influence on its frequency, while the PLL provides secondary jitter suppression during signal reconstruction, for clock precision on the femtosecond scale. The FPGA also handles IIS data shaping and aligns the timing and phase of digital signals before they reach the DAC chips. For integration into a master clock system, the unit accepts external clocks at 10 MHz and 25 MHz, on two dedicated sockets of 50 Ω and 75 Ω impedance. R-2R volume and balanced preamplifier Level is set by a high-precision R-2R resistor ladder, with a separate module for each channel. Unlike a digital volume control, which introduces quantisation loss at low levels, this ladder preserves signal integrity and phase alignment at any listening level. The balanced preamplifier accepts XLR and RCA analogue inputs and outputs, with separate connector blocks for the left and right channels, and +10 dB of analogue gain. The DAC-Z10 can therefore drive a power amplifier or active speakers directly, with no additional preamp. Connectivity, HDMI ARC and Bluetooth The rear panel gathers an isolated USB audio input, two coaxial inputs, two optical inputs, an IIS input, an AES/EBU input and an HDMI ARC input, alongside the two external clock inputs, a 12 V trigger in and out, a grounding terminal and a USB update port. The USB input relies on a multi-core audio processor compatible with native DSD512 and lossless PCM up to 768 kHz/32-bit; the IIS input offers eight customisable wiring modes to suit sources from different brands. All inputs are electrically isolated to eliminate ground loops. HDMI ARC and eARC compatibility allows a TV or home cinema system to be connected directly, and the Qualcomm QCC5125 Bluetooth module handles high-resolution wireless streaming from a phone or tablet. Headphone amplifier, display and control The built-in headphone amplifier has a 6.35 mm jack output on the front panel, with automatic headphone impedance detection and gain adjustment to match. In high-gain mode it delivers up to 1 W into 16 Ω and 1 W into 32 Ω, enough for planar or high-impedance headphones. Local control is via an 8.8-inch IPS touchscreen with electromagnetic shielding. Its interface shows the active source, the master clock in use, the digital filter, the selected output and the volume level per channel at a glance, with a choice of several VU meters or a dynamic spectrum display, in either a vintage or a modern style; the colour of the volume knob's lighting is customisable too. An infrared remote is supplied, and the Eversolo Control app gives access to volume, source switching and all settings from a phone or tablet.
