Joseph Marples 6" Try Square
I'm no fine woodworker but the ability to mark a 90 degree angle is fundamental to a lot of projects I do. I've always used a traditional joiners square and they are still being made by Joseph Marples in Sheffield. This is a 6" (15cm ish) square made from blued steel and fitted with a rosewood handle. The handle is faced with brass and they are calibrated to BS 3322 (which just means they are very close to a perfect right angle.) The handle is attached using the traditional steel pins with brass diamond inlays.
