This keeps power use extremely low and enables up to 1 000 updates and 10 to 15 years of battery life. We are exploring the possibility of offering optional remote updates through Wi Fi or Bluetooth. The work is early and there are no commitments yet, but our testing suggests that periodic check ins will be possible while still maintaining several years of normal operation.
