Details Materials: 14K gold and diamond tail, 14K rat body, Ruby eyes, 14K bail Dimensions The charm measures just under 2 1/4 inches tall from top of bail to tip of diamond tail. The rat is 1/2" at its widest. Bail opening is 3mm. Original Form Vintage rat brooch, disassembled and transformed into a charm Transformation Vintage brooch deconstructed, rebuilt, and converted into a charm by Karen Yost in NYC Quantity One of one. Shipping Ready to ship She began as a vintage brooch, but she was never meant to remain pinned in place. The Transformation I disassembled the original brooch and removed the elements that no longer served the piece, then fabricated a jointed tail to give the rat movement she had never possessed before. The ruby eyes sharpen her expression. The diamond adds a flash of light without making her any more respectable. A bail that originated on someone's magna cum laude chard completes the conversion, allowing her to be worn from a chain, added to a collector’s assembly, or kept close as the tiny gold familiar she was clearly waiting to become. The result is part antique figural jewelry, part miniature sculpture, and entirely its own creature. The Rarity There is only one. The vintage body cannot be sourced again in exactly this form, and the articulated tail was built specifically for this rat. Her proportions, surface, stones, and movement belong to this single transformation. She is limited by history and finished by one maker-hand. Relic Care Store the charm separately in a soft-lined box or pouch so the articulated tail and raised stone settings do not catch on other pieces. Clean with a toothbrush and some warm water with dish soap. You can wear this piece in water. Keep it away from your perfumes, lotions, and hair products whenever possible.
