Julian's Jump

I draw from a broad tapestry in writing for trumpet, from Clifford Brown to Maynard Ferguson and a whole lot in-between. Hopefully the phrasing and melodic structure invites the listener to hum along, as vocal influences also figure prominently. Have FUN with this, as my grandson, Julian, certainly does! ...Joseph Patrick Anthony Raised in Denver, Colorado (the tenth of eleven children), the composer grew up loving music, and before graduating from high school found himself exploring the states as a trumpet player in a swing band. After attending St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Annapolis, Maryland, he continued to travel - through over 30 countries in the western hemisphere - as a musician in the U.S. Navy. He has continued to work in a natural food store, as a corrections officer, a massage therapist, a carpenter and construction supervisor: all experiences which served to deepen his self-understanding and perspective on the human condition.
