Ethiopia Chelchele

ETHIOPIA CHELCHELE GREEN MELON, ASIAN PEAR, APRICOT TEA, HOPS This is classic Yirgacheffe in the best possible way. Chelchele is delicate, honey-sweet, and incredibly clean. The cup starts with crisp green melon and Asian pear before opening into apricot tea, cherry blossom, and a subtle hoppy floral character. There's lots of sweetness, but everything feels light and lifted. The coffee then undergoes 36–48 hours of fermentation before being thoroughly washed. TASTING NOTES: green melon, asian pear, hops, apricot tea ROAST TYPE: Light Farm Level About Chelchele Chelchele Washing Station is located in Banko Chelchele, within Gedeb, just south of Yirgacheffe. The station works with hundreds of smallholder farmers from five surrounding villages. Most cultivate less than half a hectare of coffee around their homes, often alongside other crops grown to support their families. The landscape here is dramatic and incredibly high. Coffee farms surrounding the station sit between 1,900 and 2,200 meters above sea level, while the Chelchele washing station itself rests at approximately 2,025 meters. Those elevations bring cooler temperatures and slower cherry maturation. The resulting coffee seeds are remarkably dense, helping build the sweetness and vibrant acidity we associate with the best coffees from this part of Ethiopia.
