Wexford D&H 16 Enniscorthy

Obv: A cypher R W, crest a peacock, FOR CHANGE above, 1800 below. Rev: PAYABLE AT WOODCOCK’S BANK ENNISCORTHY in five lines, first and last curved. Edge: Plain. Good Very Fine. Small dig on reverse. Rare. Trade token issued to Robert Woodcock, a banker. There are two different types belonging to this group of tokens, the Wexford 1-4, which shows the castle with flags by the river’s shore on the obverse, with Vinegar Hill and a shield hanging from a tree on the reverse; and Wexford 5-16, all varieties of the above token and almost all quite rare.
