Vintage Ethnic Silver Necklace or Headdress, with Hanging Silver Coin Pendants from Turkey - Rita Okrent Collection (C499)

Turkish silver headdress accented with glass beads and Turkish silver calligraphic tughra coin pendants. Nine coin pendants at the center are lovely and two-sided; the side coins are plain, pierced for attachment. Why We Love It This headdress has real presence, with its cluster of calligraphic coin pendants catching the eye at the center. The tughra motif and construction style connect it to a specific regional tradition of silver adornment, and the combination of coin work, glass, and cabochon settings gives it a layered, collected-over-time character. Age: Circa 1940s–1950s Dimensions: 18 inches / 45.7 cm; weighs 102.65 grams / 3.5 oz Condition: Low-grade silver (approximately 80 parts silver or better). Top center silver pendant has damage on one side. A number of cabochon settings are now empty; remaining cabochons may be coral. Beads are glass.
