Fokker D.XXI – Finnish Winter War Fighter
The fighter that defended Finland’s skies during the Winter War. The Fokker D.XXI was a Dutch-designed single-seat fighter that became closely associated with the Finnish Air Force during the Winter War. Finland was the aircraft’s first export customer and later produced the type under licence, creating one of the most recognisable aircraft in Finnish military aviation history. Although newer Soviet fighters had an advantage in speed and manoeuvrability, Finnish Fokker D.XXIs were credited with 130 aerial victories during the Winter War. This compact display model captures the aircraft’s distinctive radial-engine profile, fixed landing gear and classic late-1930s fighter silhouette.
