Italian Rationalist Dressing Table 1930s

A compact dressing table in walnut burl veneer and chrome-plated tubular steel with a glass top, made in Italy in the 1930s. A rectangular top with two small pull-out drawers flush to the apron, and a lower side shelf cantilevered from the tubular frame. The walnut burl figuring is particularly strong, warm and graphic against the cool chrome. Italian Rationalism reconciled the industrial language of tubular steel with a characteristically Italian richness of material. Well-suited to use as a vanity with a mirror above.
