As a result, you may notice a whitish, hazy, or cloudy film on the surface of the leather upon arrival — this is known as wax bloom (also called "fat spew" or "spew"). Wax bloom occurs when excess waxes migrate to the surface of the leather, particularly after exposure to cold temperatures or during storage. This is a completely natural phenomenon and is widely recognized in the leather industry as a sign of a well-oiled, richly conditioned hide. How to remove wax bloom: Simply buff the surface gently with a soft cloth or your hand. The warmth of your touch will cause the wax to re-absorb into the leather, restoring its deep, rich color and natural sheen. Alternatively, a light application of leather conditioner or a brief exposure to gentle warmth will clear the bloom entirely. Wax bloom is not a manufacturing defect and does not affect the quality, durability, or performance of the leather in any way.
