C-1 Chrono
Inspired by the golden age of motoring, built for today. The C-1 Chrono is a reverse panda dial chronograph that references the mid-century with its twin register layout. But with its more minimal design it reinterprets the classic racing chronograph with a contemporary look and feel. A mechanical tool, it’s engineered for a life on the road. Like the C-1 Shadow and C-1 Cloud, the C-1 Chrono has been built to Aera’s exacting standards. Its 42mm case is made from 904L stainless steel, a more durable alternative to 316L surgical steel used by most of the watch industry. Our steel is incredibly resistant to corrosion and pitting, and develops a deep lustre not possible with inferior alloys. It’s harder to work with, but for us the extra effort is worth it. The dial is a first for Aera. Our signature dished, one-piece dial has been re-worked with a classic reverse panda design, with white sub-dials on a black background. With racing red hands, which have been hand-painted with lacquer, it calls to mind mid-century chronographs closely associated with motorsport. These tools were once used to record lap times and measure top speeds, during an era when humankind was pushing the limits of performance both on road and track. Inspired by this golden era of motoring, the C-1 Chrono is a mechanical heirloom, referencing iconic mid-century design yet engineered to be used every day. Powering the watch is a bi-compax, Elabore grade Sellita automatic movement, a workhorse that’s renowned for its reliability. It comes with a power reserve of 56 hours, and can be manually wound by unscrewing the crown and pulling it out one stop. It’s housed within a flush-fitting, screw-in case back, engraved with key specifications and the watch’s unique serial number. An edition of only 300 pieces and released in phases, you will find a matching serial number on the reverse side of one of the lugs. Like every Aera design, the C-1 Chrono is all about the details. Underneath the domed sapphire crystal, Tritec Swiss Super-Luminova (™) has been applied by hand to the hour and minute hands, as well as the tips of the sweeping seconds hand and sub-dial hands. In low light these glow bright green, ensuring it’s still easy to operate. The Aera logo meanwhile has been machined from solid Globolight, glowing bright white. Elsewhere, the numbers on the bezel have been hand-filled with lacquer. This all combines to make each piece unique. A mechanical watch is a highly individual purchase, so it’s rewarding to know each one is different. Included with every purchase are two of our integrated straps which come with matching brushed 904L steel hardware The watch comes on a Pebble grain Italian leather with black stitching and in-box you will find a Battleship grey Rubber strap. They form perfectly around the wrist thanks to our ergonomically designed lugs, and feature our quick-release spring bars, making it easy to switch up the look depending on your outfit or mood.
