Vintage Sterling Silver & Copper 2-Sided Concho & Button Cover Pendant with 3 Strands of Sea Sediment Jasper Rounds, Czech Glass & Sterling
This terrific Necklace features a Sterling Silver Concho & Button Cover Pendant, handcrafted by Nevada Silversmith Jim Daggett. The Pendant is two-sided, with one side displaying a vintage, 1-3/8-inch Sterling Silver Concho*, wrapped in a rolled Sterling Bezel. The reverse side has a matching 7/8-inch vintage Sterling Silver Button Cover, set on a base of hand-hammered Polished Copper. The mixed metals coordinate beautifully; a bit of Southwest history with contemporary flair. We've paired the Pendant with 3 strands of Dark Blue Sea Sediment Jasper Rounds. The Rounds are 6mm in dimension and are splashed with light gray matrix in myriad patterns. The blend of the two colors has great visual appeal. On either side of the Pendant are two 9mm Sterling Silver Stamped Rounds with Diamond Cut-Outs. The 9mm Beads are accompanied by ten 7mm Stamped Silver Rounds, which are arranged along the Necklace Strands. The Silver Beads harmonize beautifully with the Pendant and add attractive shine. The Jasper is further ornamented with several Czech Glass elements, including 8mm Lumi Blue Czech Druk Glass Rounds, and 4mm Montana Blue & Light Blue Czech Fire Polished Bicones & Ovals. These Beads contribute translucency and subtle sparkle to the design. At the top of the Necklace the Sea Sediment Jasper transitions to Blue-Gray Czech Fire Polished Glass Ovals, streamlining the silhouette and ensuring a comfortable fit. The Necklace is finished with a Sterling Silver Toggle Clasp and adorned with a Southwest Designs Sterling Charm. The piece weighs 98 grams and is 20 inches long plus the Pendant, which is 1-1/2 inches in diameter plus a 1/4-inch Bail. * The Sterling Silver Concho & Button Cover were crafted in the mid-1970's and were purchased in Santa Fe, New Mexico from a skilled Native American artist. Conchos were traditionally used to craft Sterling Silver Belts or Necklaces — or to ornament Leather Belts or Bolo Necklaces — while Button Covers were used to ornament shirt buttons. Conchos typically have a screw rivet on the back, while Button Covers have a base metal backing that is designed to slide over the button and hold the decoration in place. To fashion this Pendant, the back piece of the Concho and Button Cover were removed, leaving only the Sterling Silver face. These two pieces were then incorporated into the Pendant design.
