The leopard print vase did not ask for permission either. And yet here we all are. This painting started, like most of them do, with the flowers. With the specific impulse to put too many of them in one place and see what happened. What happened was this: thirty shades of pink, a blue daisy that refused to be subtle, a purple anemone that showed up late and immediately took over, and a vase that understood the assignment completely. The drips stayed. They always stay. That part is not a mistake.
