1938 Pea Coat – Heavy Wool (24oz) – Black - Pike Brothers
The 1938 Pea Coat Black from Pike Brothers is a technical reproduction of the classic naval coat, made from heavy 24 oz wool for maximum protection against the elements. The Pea Coat has been worn by sailors worldwide since the 18th century. The design is believed to have been developed by Dutch sailors under the name "Pije" Coat, describing a coat made from heavy and robust wool fabric. The garment is constructed to withstand wind and weather in demanding conditions at sea, This version is produced in a heavy wool quality corresponding to the 1930s standard. The textile is woven in Portugal from 100% virgin wool according to a historical recipe, with a fabric weight of 1000 grams per square meter (approx. 29.5 oz). The high gram weight gives the garment natural wind and water-repellent properties. The jacket features a double-breasted cut with an Ulster collar and a flared hip section.
