Here's how to tell the difference once it's in your home — every point below describes our fixtures. 1 Pick it up Real glass is cool and substantial. Resin feels warm, light, and hollow. Our tubes have real weight — many customers say the heavy box was their first clue it's genuine. 2 Look at the texture Hand-cast crackle texture has true depth you can feel with a fingertip. Resin texture looks like it's printed on a flat surface. 3 Turn on the light Glass refracts light into a layered, moving glow. Resin tends to look flat, dull, or slightly cloudy when lit. 4 Compare two pieces No two hand-cast tubes are exactly identical. Amberley Wavy Glass Semi Flush Ceiling Light The glass is what carries it. Two overlapping tiers of wavy glass panels, each one rippled along its edge and shaded a smoked amber that runs from pale champagne to deep cognac depending on where the light hits it. The panels aren't flat: they curve, they overlap, and they catch light on the ridge and hold shadow in the fold. That's why an amber glass ceiling light like this reads as warm and layered rather than as one solid glowing shape. Turn it on and it does the thing amber does best — the whole ceiling around it warms. Light passes through tinted glass and comes out honey-coloured, so an ordinary white hallway at nine in the evening stops looking like a corridor and starts looking like a room. You find the one you want, you read the drop, and you put it back. At 9.8″ overall this one ends the search: two full tiers of glass, the scale and presence of a chandelier, and it still clears every head in the room. Nothing to hang, no chain to shorten, no drop to calculate — it goes up tight to the plaster and stays out of the way. 02 Amber Glass Warms the Whole Room Clear glass passes light through unchanged. Tinted glass does not — light leaves these panels honey-coloured, and washes the plaster around the fixture in the same tone. It is the difference between a hallway that looks lit and a hallway that looks warm. Because the colour lives inside the glass rather than on its surface, it will not chip, peel or fade with heat, and it reads the same on the edge of a panel as on the face of it. 03 Panel Over Panel, Never Flat Every panel is rippled along its length and laps over the one beside it, in two tiers that overlap rather than stack. That overlap is what gives the fixture depth: light catches on each ridge and holds in each fold, so the surface breaks into dozens of separate highlights instead of glowing as one solid shape. Most people find the light they want and then read the drop. Twenty-two inches, twenty-eight, thirty-six — and they put it back. That is where the search usually ends in a house with ordinary ceilings, and it is where this piece begins. Amberley was drawn to sit close. Under ten inches from ceiling to lowest glass, no chain, no calculating — and still two full tiers of panels, still the scale and presence of something that would normally have to hang. Nothing was made smaller to fit. The drop was. The glass is where it earns the room. Every panel is rippled along its length and lapped over the next, and the smoke-tea colour runs through the body of the glass rather than sitting on the surface. Light leaving it arrives honey-coloured, and washes the plaster in the same tone. By day it reads as a warm bronze shape against white. By night the whole ceiling around it turns amber — and a hallway you walked past a hundred times stops reading as a corridor. It doesn't just light the room. It changes the temperature of it. Total height is 9.8″, so it ends about 7 ft 2″ off the floor. No chain, nothing to adjust. 02How big is it, really? 17.7″ across. Suits a room of 10×10 ft or more, or an entry of 5×5 ft. 03What bulbs does it take? 6 × G9 — small two-pin, not included. Choose LED, warm white 2700–3000K. Halogen runs too hot inside a closed glass shade. 04Can I see the bulbs? No. Two tiers of glass screen them from every angle — you see warm amber light, not six bulbs. 05Is it bright enough? Six lamps is plenty for a bedroom, entry or hallway. The tinted glass makes the light warm rather than dim. 06Can it be dimmed? Yes — with dimmable G9 bulbs and a compatible dimmer. Standard bulbs will not dim. 07Is the amber colour painted on? No. The tint runs through the glass, so it cannot chip, peel or fade. 08Can it go in a bathroom? Only a dry one with good ventilation. Not above a bath or shower — IP20, no water protection. 09Is it hard to install? It is hardwired — use a licensed electrician. Check your junction box is rated for the weight before ordering. 10How do I clean it? A soft dry cloth, once or twice a year.
