One of the darkest tulips you can grow, ‘Queen of Night’ produces elegant, velvety flowers in an incredibly deep maroon-purple that can appear almost black. It’s a classic variety and brilliant for adding contrast and depth to spring planting. This tall, late-flowering tulip looks particularly striking weaving through paler pinks, peaches and whites – or planted en masse for a dramatic display. Its long stems also make it excellent for cutting. Following the RHS 2026 trial of Single Late tulips, ‘Queen of Night’ holds the RHS Recommended: Award of Garden Merit for its garden performance.
