Spanish Inlaid Box
This handsome Spanish cigarette (or trinket) box is crafted of ebony and rosewood—crisply inlaid with narrow strips of bone. Made in the traditional Iberian-Moorish geometric style, probably in or near Granada (Southern Spain). The interior wooden lining still retains a trace of its original fragrance. Intended to hold cigarettes, it is also perfect for corralling clips (or other supplies) in the office, safekeeping a small number of cufflinks (or collar stays) on the bedside, or stashing a stack of business cards on the desk. A handwritten note remains enclosed—from the box's original owner to the couple to whom he gave it. (1.25" x 5" x 4") bx13200b c. 1950's - 1960's
