Antique 19thC French Empire Gilt Bronze Marble Eagle Desk Set Twin Inkwell 1880

A fine antique 19th century French Empire style gilt bronze & marble double inkwell eagle desk set, circa 1880. This very elegant antique inkwell desk set is made of the finest dark green variegated marble, the shaped marble base having a scalloped storage to store steel nibbed pens. The marble base with a raised centerpiece cast gilt-bronze eagle sculpture, with outspread wings flanked by twin ornate matching lidded inkwells. Both bronze inkwells are finely cast with acanthus leaf decoration, the dome topped hinged lids with pointed finials. The heavy marble base is raised on gilt-bronze circular ribbed discs with tapered feet. Condition is excellent, this exquisite antique French inkwell desk set is ready to grace your home or office.
