1932 15,xxx Selmer Cigar Cutter Alto Saxophone, Video

1932 Selmer Cigar Cutter alto saxophone, s/n 15789. This sax is in great playing condition. It has about 50% new pads primarily on the lower stack, and the rest are sealing well. The Cigar Cutter was part of Selmer’s early Super Sax series and takes its nickname from the distinctive shape of the octave mechanism. Selmer later changed the octave key design during Super Sax production, so not every horn from this period that is referred to as a Cigar Cutter actually has the original Cigar Cutter mechanism. This one does. These early Super altos are wonderful horns. They have a warmer, sweeter sound than later Selmer altos, while still having core that I associate with a vintage Selmer. This is a great option for someone looking for an early Selmer that has already been overhauled and is ready to play.
