Antique 18K opal and ruby pendant necklace

A stunning 18K opal pendant with ruby accents. The 7 carat opal exhibits a robust, lively play-of-color with patches of violet, pink, blue, green and orange appearing within the stone - a kaleidoscopic movement of color and light! The opal is held in an 18K gold frame with a step-down border that is trimmed in decorative gold leaves and bezel set rubies. I date this to the 1940s, or the Victorian Revival Era. A substantial piece at 6.9 grams and lovely condition. Chain not included.
