1800s Japanese Tanto sword blade, traditional & wooden mounts by Rai Kuntoshi
19th century era traditional Japanese Tanto sword blade with traditional and wooden mounts by Rai Kuntoshi. Marked tang, to the superb quality 29.5cm exposed steel ‘yoroi toshi’ style blade, nicely polished, with horimono markings to both sides of this near mint condition blade, retaining the etched two-piece silver habaki, the blade currently sitting in the pegged wooden mounts. The traditional civilian mounts include a white ray skin grip, with plain black pommel and gilt ‘mon’ menuki to both sides, 27cm long ‘inked’ wooden blade, with a green composite scabbard with tied black cotton rope, finished with an engraved brass gripped 19cm long steel ‘kozuka’ blade. Overall, an amazing set.
