A wonderfully characterful Eastern European antique pine chest of drawers, retaining its original aged painted finish throughout. The beautifully time-worn paintwork has naturally worn back over the years to reveal the warm pine beneath, creating a wonderfully authentic, layered appearance. The chest has four generous drawers, each fitted with its original-style aged brass drop handles, with attractive fluted and moulded decoration to the front corners and substantial square feet. The broad pine top has developed a lovely naturally distressed surface, adding to the charm and individuality of this piece. A superb example of the rustic, practical furniture traditionally found throughout Eastern Europe. The combination of the original paint, exposed timber, aged hardware and architectural detailing gives this chest a wonderfully relaxed country house, French farmhouse or rustic Scandinavian feel.
