The Retriever Project
The Retriever Project A 6-Week Intensive Training Programme for Labradors, Golden Retrievers & Retriever Crosses Labradors and Retrievers are some of the friendliest and most affectionate dogs you can own. They are also often incredibly enthusiastic. If your dog pulls towards people, gets over excited around other dogs, struggles to settle, ignores you when something more interesting appears, or believes everything they find belongs in their mouth, this course has been designed with them in mind. The Retriever Project is a structured six-class training programme designed to improve calmness, focus, impulse control and responsiveness around real-life distractions. Course Details Price: €265 Classes: 6 x 1-hour sessions Day: Wednesday Time: 7:00pm–8:00pm Maximum Class Size: 6 dogs Minimum Age: 6 months Location: Lee Dog Training, Midleton, Co. Cork Lessons 1–5 take place weekly. There is then a one-week training break before Lesson 6, meaning the final lesson takes place two weeks after Lesson 5. This gives owners time to practise independently before returning for the final class. Who Is This Course For? This course is suitable for: Labrador Retrievers Golden Retrievers Retriever Cross Breeds Dogs must be at least 6 months old and comfortable working around other dogs in a controlled group environment. Nervous or Reactive Dogs This class is not suitable for nervous, fearful or reactive dogs. Exposing a nervous or reactive dog to a busy group environment before they are ready can increase stress and make these behaviours worse. For dogs struggling with nervousness, fear or reactivity around people or other dogs, we recommend Private 1-to-1 Training instead. What We Will Work On Throughout the programme we will work on practical skills designed specifically around the common challenges seen in Labradors and Retrievers. Focus and engagement Excellent Sit Loose lead walking Calm behaviour around other dogs Impulse control Place and Stay Recall around distractions Hold, Drop and Leave Working around food, toys, people and other dogs Real-world training exercises Each lesson builds on the previous week, allowing both dog and owner to develop progressively throughout the programme. Assessment Required Before Booking A Training Assessment & Action Plan MUST be completed before booking The Retriever Project. The assessment allows us to make sure your dog is suitable for the group environment and that this is the correct training programme for you and your dog. Any Retriever Project booking made without first completing an assessment will be refunded. Book Your Training Assessment Here Attendance & Missed Classes Please make sure you can commit to the full programme before booking. Missed classes cannot be transferred, moved to another course or replaced with another session. There are no catch-up classes available. If you miss a class, that session is lost. This policy allows the group to progress together consistently throughout the programme. The Goal The goal of The Retriever Project is not simply to teach more commands. It is to help you develop a calmer, more responsive dog that can listen and work with you even when people, dogs, food, toys and other distractions are present. By the end of the programme, you should also have a much clearer understanding of how to continue progressing your dog's training at home.
