Eyes of the Demon Tee

Continuing on a running theme of owls and classic action films - you may recognise this quote from what I consider to be possibly the most under-rated action film of the era. Unfairly maligned and held to the impossibly high standards of its predecessor. It is not about owls, but it is about a silent and deadly hunter. If you know, you know. Barn owls are not demons, of course. They are graceful, mystical and surprisingly delicate birds whose numbers are in decline due to loss of prey and suitable hunting and nesting habitat. Last year I was lucky enough to help an owl man tag a wild female barn owl for the purposes of monitoring and conservation. He picked her up from her nesting box and held her like a chicken drumstick and she was completely calm and resigned the whole time (see photo).
