Hornady® VEXIS™ Premium 36-Inch Vault Door – Dark Gray The Hornady® VEXIS™ Premium 36-Inch Vault Door transforms a safe room, gun room, closet, or other reinforced space into a secure vault with fast, contactless access. Patent-pending VEXIS palm-vein recognition reads the unique vein pattern beneath the skin and verifies an authorized user in less than half a second. For flexible access control, the VEXIS system is paired with a programmable keypad and a mechanical key backup. The keypad can store up to 10 unique palm-vein patterns, and access data remains stored locally on the device rather than being uploaded or shared. The door and frame are constructed from heavy-duty 12-gauge steel and secured by eight 1-inch live locking bolts. Ceramic-fiber insulation adds fire protection, while integrated steel trim creates a clean exterior finish around the installed opening. A patent-pending reversible hinge system supports either right-hand or left-hand in-swing installation. Inside, the Square-Lok®-compatible back panel accepts separately sold accessories so firearms, gear, and valuables can be organized to suit the room. Installation and Product Resources The VEXIS Premium Vault Door requires a level, plumb, structurally suitable rough opening measuring at least 81.5 inches high by 38 inches wide. Because the assembly is extremely heavy, Hornady recommends keeping it fully supported until all mounting hardware is installed. The supplied lag screws are intended for wood framing; compatible hardware must be purchased separately for other wall types. Keep the VEXIS sensor shaded from direct sunlight and intense spotlights, which can interfere with the infrared reader. Interior finish trim is not included.
