Rare Antique Japanese Katana (sword) tansu, Edo period, 19th Century. Hand forged iron hardware lock plates and kakute handles. Three drawers and a small door compartment with two small drawers. The two top drawers are where katanas are stored, the bottom drawer the wakasashi and the safe box with smaller drawers, the cleaning paraphernalia are kept. The all Kiri wood I is treated with wiped urushi lacquer. Original condition. 42" x 16.25" x 14.5"
